Changes Coming to Compose for MongoDB

Published

As you may have heard, in October, MongoDB Inc. issued a new software license under the Server Side Public License (SSPL) for MongoDB Community. Compose always has been committed to making open-source technologies open and freely available to use and we didn't want the new licensing to affect you. So, we've been partnering with MongoDB Inc. closely over the last few months to provide a suitable solution for our customers that meets the MongoDB Inc. license requirements.

If you have an existing Compose account, don't worry, you can continue to use MongoDB on Compose and provision new MongoDB deployments.

However, as of February 1, 2019, new Compose customers will not be able to create new instances of MongoDB on Compose.

For new Compose customers who want Compose for MongoDB, stay tuned for our launch of IBM Cloud Databases for MongoDB. IBM Cloud Databases for MongoDB is the next generation of Compose built from the ground up on IBM Cloud to deliver a range of database technologies in a scalable, cost-efficient, and reliable way. IBM Cloud Databases for MongoDB will integrate with key IBM services including, IBM Key Protect, IBM Activity Tracker, IBM Cloud Identity & Access Management
